Melissa Avgerinos

Assistant Principal - Grades 3-6

Melissa Avgerinos comes to Oradell Public Schools with 16 years of elementary teaching experience, including 14 years in general education and 2 years as a reading interventionist. In her previous leadership roles she coordinated after school clubs for students in grades three to six, served as a literacy coach, teacher in charge, and curriculum specialist. She was chosen to represent her school as a lead teacher with the Teachers College Reading and Writing Project in Northern NJ. In this role, she was able to organize and facilitate professional development to her colleagues and support them as they grew professionally.

Mrs. Avgerinos has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from New York University, a Master of Arts in Elementary Education from William Paterson University, and a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Montclair State University. She is passionate about challenging students to think creatively about problem solving and supporting them as they learn to set rigorous academic and personal goals for themselves. Mrs. Avgerinos is looking forward to working closely with the students, families, and staff at OPS as they continue to grow socially, emotionally, and academically.
