School Refusal to School Acceptance 

   Helping Your Child Back into School 

School refusal behavior is very complex and a challenging situation for the child and family. The child’s difficulty with regulating strong emotions puts a strain on their nervous system that makes it hard to separate from their secure environment. 

This digital workshop will support participants to: 

➢ Understand school refusal behavior and its many possible causes. 

➢ Explore types of treatment modalities and current evidenced-based practices. 

➢ How to create a compassionate response connected to a structured and predictable environment at home and in school. 

➢ Examine the need for a collaborative approach for the evaluation and treatment around the underlying causes of school refusal. 

➢ Develop positive behavior modification techniques at home that are age-appropriate and realistic. 

➢ Implement a preventative approach to de-escalate school refusal behaviors. 

➢ Creating a Self-Care Plan for Caregivers and Family Members. 

➢ Finding a Support Network to Cope with School Refusal as you are not alone.

➢ Learn about Resources and Services in the Community.
