Life is a Journey: Every Step Matters
Monday: D Day
WEEK OF RESPECT: The Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights Act recognizes the first full week of October as Week of Respect in New Jersey. At OPS, we use this week to celebrate kindness, acceptance, and belonging and to remind our students what it means to follow The Way of the Panther. Each day will include a school activity, a spirit dress theme, and a home connection families can do together. You can find all the information for the week HERE. We hope families will join in the fun and help us carry the spirit of Week of Respect from school to home!
GOAL SETTING CONFERENCES & CHILD CARE: Goal Setting Conferences will take place the week of October 12. Families should have received directions from their child’s teacher on how to sign up for a conference. We’re happy to share that childcare will be available in the library during both daytime and evening conferences to make it a little easier for families to attend.
PTA LUNCHES: Now that PTA lunches are in full swing, most absent student meals can be picked up in the main office after 1 PM. Please note that cold Sushi will not be left out after 1 PM. If you wish to pick up your child’s lunch, please stop in the Main Office before 1 PM to arrange pickup.
BIKE SAFETY REMINDER: All adults and students must not ride bikes on the sidewalks around OPS during drop-off and pick-up. Please dismount your bike and walk it to the door.
K PARENT REMINDER: When picking up your student, please let the teacher dismiss them to you. Do not move past the cones to pick up your child off the line.
SAVE THE DATE 🎃 HALLOWEEN PARADE: The OPS Halloween Parade will be held on Friday, October 30 at 2:05 PM on Memorial Field. Families and guests are welcome to join us!
Students will have regular instruction in the morning and should not wear costumes to school. Halloween activities will begin in the afternoon. Lunch/recess will be from 11:15 AM–12:45 PM. Students may be picked up at 11:15 to have lunch and change into their costumes at home, returning at 12:45. Students who remain at school will have lunch/recess at OPS and change into their costumes afterward. Additional parade, costume, and safety information will be shared in the near future.
